Could Be My Last Post

Yay! Hayley made it to her district foreign exchange meeting yesterday! She is tired today, but at least she is home and not in the ER or hospital. I am hoping that it will just be a few weeks, she will get surgery and then with the proper medication she will be on her way to Spain. Her attitude has been terrific! She even mentioned yesterday that she thinks you can almost will yourself well. I don't know, but it sure helps to maintain the right attitude. Well, I am going to hope that this will be my last post, as that means I have finished my class work, printed the blog, and sent it in.

ER

Well, back in the hospital again. This time we are in the ER! The powers that be are trying to decide what to do with my daughter. We have been here 7 hours and still don't know if we will be admitted or if we will be going home. Frustrating because this is our 5th trip since February. We have lost a great deal of confidence in our medical team, but one of our members, Dad, took charge and demanded that the gastro dr. gives us priority because they have admittedly not treated my daughter as well as they could have. A cat scan was needed today and time will tell what our next step will be.

Out of the Hospital

Well, it has been awhile since my last post and that is because after 12 days in the hospital it has set me back both at home and work.  I actually had to call the Learners Edge instructor to find out how this blogging thing will work since I have not been at work and the coursework is due.  The good news is that Dawn told me there is no wrong way to do the blog.  It is up to me what to blog about...sooooo I am happy to report that I am going to continue this blog about the medical adventures that Hayley and I are facing.  Next on the agenda is for Hayley to go back to the surgeon this Thursday.  At that time he will probably take out the drain that is protruding from her stomach and give us a date for surgery.  She has been a real trouper about taking all her medications and getting her drain flushed.  We do have an issue right now with the drain leaking, but noone that I have talked to seems too worried about it.  I have left a message for the Home Health Nurse, but have not heard back.  He probably needs to contact someone to find out what to do.

Hospital Day 12

Thought we were getting out today, but unfortunately a tremendous headache is keeping us here. Time is passing slowly and when someone is in pain, you really don't want to do anything that requires thinking. Puzzles seem to fit the bill.

2nd Post

As you can tell by the title, I am not real comfortable making posts. Today's excitement in the hospital was our Easter Egg hunt. The day started with filling plastic eggs from the hospital room. next, we took the eggs down to tHe children's playroom and hid them. The nurse brought kids in and then the hunt started. Time went quickly and being with others gave us some sense of normalcy/reality. I think I am going to attempt a walk now. I need to get some exercise as I definitely ate way too much candy today!

Hospital Room Things To Do

After sitting around for 8 days in a hospital, I would like to share some of the things we have done to pass the time. We have probably watched 10 movies, searched the web daily, done puzzles, played Phase 10, made bracelets, and visited with relatives. I am interested in hearing how others pass the time.
